“Every Scene is a Lesson. Every Shot is a School.”

Apple hit a winner in their recent advertisement, which aired during last night’s Oscars.

It featured a voiceover from film legend Martin Scorsese, about the art of filmmaking, together with footage of students at Los Angeles County High School for the Arts making films … using the iPad. Apparently the ad itself was shot with the trendsetting tablet, produced by ad agency TBWA.

The spot uses an excerpt from Scorsese’s commencement speech to the NYU Tisch School of the Arts Class of 2014, about the determination and hard work that goes into filmmaking – and any creative endeavor – rather than the oversimplified notion of “following your dream.”

The words are inspirational, for sure, and the footage of excited students collaborating, learning and creating is exactly what we like to see here at TheCruu.
