The Daily Show’s Jon Stewart Inks a New TV Deal with HBO
Hopefully by now you’ve gotten over your deep sadness for Jon Stewart’s retirement from The Daily Show.
You’ve learned to love Trevor Noah’s style & approach to the rebranded “TDS” … and you’re genuinely content, knowing that so many other comedic careers have been launched, carrying the torch of sharp, political comedy/commentary.
Just when you’ve settled in, you can lose you shit again because Jon Stewart has signed on with HBO to produce short-form digital content, a project that is expected to go live early next year.
HBO will also have first dibs on any television or film projects Stewart embarks on.
In a recent statement Jon said “Appearing on television 22 minutes a night clearly broke me. I’m pretty sure I can produce a few minutes of content every now and again.”
CNN Money reports that HBO has had its eye on Stewart since he announced his retirement.
“We would love to find a way to work with somebody as brilliant and gifted as Jon. Love to,” CEO Richard Plepler had said in August.
Well, let’s see what happens …
